I firmly believe that God has been with me every step of the way. In this section I will share how I feel God has been holding my hand and watching over me. This section is not going to have much of a structure...I just want to share how I feel God has been with me through out.
- What are the odds that I am just in my kitchen warming up some food and I happen to feel a lump on my breast? I honestly believe it was God making me aware there is something wrong and I need to look into it.
- Having a job that provides medical insurance where I can go to a doctor and see about a mass.
- Things progressing quickly from going to the doctor, getting a mammogram and a biopsy all within 2 weeks of finding the mass.
- Getting the results from the biopsy quickly.
- Having the option of doing a lumpectomy or a full mastectomy.
- I felt that getting cancer at this time was advantageous, I was healthy, I was in the best shape of my life and eating healthy.
- Having a strong support system of family and friends.
- Having a lumpectomy fairly quickly.
- Qualifying for Family Medical Leave at work. I had just barely completed my one year anniversary at work, which ended my probationary period and I was able to qualify for FMLA. The timing was perfect.
- Being able to qualify for state disability insurance during my lumpectomy surgery. I didn't have enough sick/vacation days to cover my time away from work while I recovered from surgery. This was a big blessing!
- Living with my mom - my mom took care of me after my surgery 24/7.
- Having my lumpectomy with out any complications and healing very well.
- Although my pathology report stated I had cancer in my lymph nodes, I still kept a positive outlook on my outcome.
- Other than having cancer, I was very healthy, my blood work was always in range of where it needed to be.
- Having a job where I worked Monday to Thursday, which allowed me to go to doctor visits on Friday and save my sick/vacation time.
- Getting an intuition to get a second opinion with the City of Hope.
- Finding out the 1st oncologist was not doing what they were supposed to which solidified my switch to City of Hope.
- Having a PPO insurance where I could make the switch to City of Hope.
- Having caught the cancer early where it is only a stage 2.
- Having options regarding chemo treatment.
- Having the surgery to insert my portal with no complications and healing well.
- Being able to have fun and enjoy myself as much as I can before my chemo treatment. I was able to enjoy my summer.
- Again having a job that I qualify for FMLA for the entire time I am on Chemo.
- Having such compassionate and attentive nurses, staff and doctors at City of Hope, Corona Regional and Riverside Medical.
- My mom taking me to my chemo treatments and keeping me company.
- Friends and family checking in on me after my first chemo treatment. My friends visiting me and bringing me gifts.
- Having very minimal and mild symptoms after my first chemo treatment.
- For my amazing hairdresser, Leslie, that cut my hair short and made me look amazing. My two best friends being there to make me laugh and encourage me through out the cut.
- Having my friend take me to my wig fitting appointment, getting me Starbucks and keeping me company.
